Participation
Local businesses intending to find capital and to broaden their corporate base to include new partners with particular innovation and business culture skills can rely on our support.
Through risk capital participation by individual companies we support the start-up of innovative and high tech companies, strengthen those sectors believed to be of strategic importance for the development of the area, and support the launch of high employment impact enterprises.
Currently Trentino Sviluppo has shareholdings in 36 Trentino companies (list of companies). The portfolio of companies in which we have holdings, which until 2006 was focused mainly on the tourist industry (cablecars and trade fairs), has in recent years concentrated increasingly on support for system, industrial and service activities.
Trentino Sviluppo has also particiopated in the establishment of a closed-end investment fund called MC², which is dedicated to to the consolidation and development of small and medium enterprises.
Criteria for acquiring shares
The recent decision of the Provincial Council n. 1820 of 05/08/2010, establishing the criteria for intervention through Trentino Sviluppo, has introduced significant innovations in terms of risk capital participation.
Besides the 'direct partecipation', that is taken directly from Trentino Sviluppo entirely with public resources, there are two more alternative:
- participation in a closed-end investment fund, selected by transparent procedures and powered by a combination of public-private finance;
- the creation of a new investment company, with partners from the majority position, also selected by public notice.
The intervention of private investors, in addition to a multiplier effect on public spending, will be a strong signal of support for collaborative initiatives with prospects of profitability and return on investment.
